top

Commands

  • Run top in background with one iteration and full command lines: top -c -b -n 1
  • Run top 1h in background: nohup top -b -d 1 -n 3600 > top.out &
  • Multiple Windows mode: press A + a or w to cycle through all windows
  • Show all threads: top -H or while top is running press H + enter
  • Capture data for memory leak: top -b -n 1 -H >> top.out
  • Sort process status afrer IO Wait:
RHEL 6: `O, w, <enter>, R`
RHEL 7: `f, select "S", s, q, R`
